Best Pizza

So one of our new traders, who grew up near my home town, and I were discussing the best pizza.  For some reason there is this false notion that NYC has the best pizza.  They don’t.  The best pizza, Colosseo, is from my home town.  This is not some parochial or biased call.  I have traveled quite a bit.  And I have eaten my share of pizza.  This place is really the best!

But we should take a step back and make a distinction between NY style pizza, brick oven pizza, Sicilian and deep dish.  We were referring to NY style pizza.  For the best brick oven I think you have to give it to Sally’s or Pepe’s in New Haven.  For the best deep dish I think I would need to move to Chicago, but I always enjoy Gino’s.  But for the best Sicilian or NY style pizza the winner is Colosseo (please feel free to offer your nominee for best pizza).

So why is this relevant to trading today?  The reason we were discussing the best pizza was because it was a slow summer trading session.  We were disciplined.  We were alertly watching.  But we were not forcing our trades.  In the AM I found little follow through for stocks that broke significant levels.  CCJ was no good below 28.50.  NRG was no good above 28.10.  HSY was no good below 38.  GG not so good above 30.  And FCX couldn’t hold above 85.  So we started talking.

But then like a good action movie that is just spending some time developing its characters the market drew us in.  NMX popped two points into the Close.  And we made some nice chops into the Close in NMX.  80 is a nice intraday level to trade off of tomorrow.  So we made some nice chops into the Close in NMX and the desk was educated on the best pizza.  I am getting hungry.

  1. The best deep dish in Chicago by far is a place up in Lakeview called “The Art of Pizza.” There’s only 1 spot and it’s supremely better than any of that gino’s, giordano’s, or uno’s stuff.

  3. Agree that Chicago is by far the best deep dish and “The Art of Pizza” is great. Lou Malnati’s is also up there but its not as consistent as it used to be.
