Live to See Another Day

There’s one thing that Bella always says:  The trading day doesn’t end until 4PM.  That’s especially true with markets like the one we’re currently in.On Friday, I was having a very rough day.  What was even more frustrating was that I was underperforming.  I could not believe that the type of day I had envisioned months ago was the day I would have the most frustration trading.  I got stopped out twice on Friday, and I was on the verge of almost going home at three different points of the day.  I was trying to be patient, but nothing was working for me.Going into the close, I was hoping the market would pick a direction and begin to move in that direction.  Up or down, it didn’t matter to me, as long as it moved.  If the market moved lower I was going to short RIMM below 50.  And if it moved higher I was going to buy AAPL above 94.  Needless to say, the market moved higher and I ended up trading AAPL on the long side.  I focused on just making one good trade at a time.  Within minutes I had made back all the money I had lost earlier, and finished positive on the day.Today was another day where I grinded it out during the day to catch a nice upmove into the close.  There’s so much money out there on the open, but you have to understand that even if you don’t maximize on the opportunity at the beginning of the day, you still have the rest of the day.The next time you’re frustrated with your trading, and feel like you’re trading poorly, you have to have the sense to take a step back and tell yourself that it’s a long day.  Be patient and wait for your opportunities.

  1. Thanks again for the wonderful comment above there. Hit a low on Friday for the year. Stayed on Sunday night through Mon. close trading dax, hsi ,es and few stocks. Best day of my career. Still in the hole for 2008. From down 52% to now down 38% for 2008.

Almost gave up Sunday night session, sheer luck decided to turn the turret on and sit in front telling myself need to do it for my family’s sake.

As my daily routine, I come to your site and there you have a great writing as if written it for me. Bookmarking it to read it again whenever Mr. market punishes me.

    Thanks again.

PS. Thank God, I Did not face brutal 2008 when I started my career in 2002. I would have been chewed up and thrown out by Mr. Market.

  3. It’s been a battle last few weeks every day, always coming from behind. But you don’t wrap it up and go home. You keep grinding, taking small losses and patiently waiting for a few good trades to get it done. I hate to loose. Find a way to turn profit at the end of the day.

    Good Luck.
