{"id":9732,"date":"2011-02-06T16:24:49","date_gmt":"2011-02-06T21:24:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.smbtraining.com\/blog\/?p=9732"},"modified":"2011-02-06T16:24:49","modified_gmt":"2011-02-06T21:24:49","slug":"sammy%e2%80%99s-journal-rolling-with-the-punches","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.smbtraining.com\/blog\/sammy%e2%80%99s-journal-rolling-with-the-punches","title":{"rendered":"Sammy\u2019s Journal: Rolling With The Punches"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At the beginning of the year I had goals for myself, which I did not achieve.\u00a0 So, I asked myself \u201cwhat can I change in order to achieve these goals going forward?\u201d\u00a0 I made a few changes and made it through a wild week, which turned out being my best week so far.<\/p>\n<p>The month started like this:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tuesday<\/strong>:\u00a0 Good day with only three losing trades.\u00a0 I was in the zone all day, but I didn\u2019t use size even though the trades I was in were screaming at me to use more size.\u00a0 I was saying to myself it\u2019s the first of the month, take it easy.\u00a0 But in reality I was holding myself back from making a lot more money.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wednesday<\/strong>:\u00a0 Was up on the open using a little more size, but never booked my open profits as I was trying to push myself to make more money.\u00a0 Taking a look back, clearly I was being a little too cocky and not getting out of the positions when it was time to get out.\u00a0 So, I lost the money I was up and then couldn\u2019t make a winning trade.\u00a0 It was about 2:30, and I was going to just call it a day and shut it down. But then, our SMB Radar went off.\u00a0 So, I saw a new opportunity.\u00a0 I attacked that new opportunity and made my day back and came close to almost having one of my best days.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thursday<\/strong>:\u00a0 Awful start to my morning.\u00a0 Trains were delayed by over an hour due to the ice storm.\u00a0 So, I traded from home.\u00a0\u00a0 As I was trying to place orders but my trades weren\u2019t being executed.\u00a0 I was going insane.\u00a0 Comes to find out my area was having internet issues.\u00a0\u00a0 I missed the open and my internet came back at around 10am.\u00a0 So, I began trading and it went down again, scared to death, since my platform wasn\u2019t working.\u00a0 So, a few minutes later it comes back on and I\u2019m down money, more then what I should have been down.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t take it to heart as this problem wasn\u2019t in my control.\u00a0 So, I attacked the market again got my money back and ended the day positive.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Friday<\/strong>:\u00a0 My toughest day yet.\u00a0 I was close to getting stopped out as most of my trades went against me.\u00a0 My executions were good but I kept getting stopped out of my positions as I was trying to manage my risk.\u00a0 This was not how I wanted to start my weekend.\u00a0 I stuck with it and eventually turned the day into a decent gain.\u00a0 I decided to use some size as I was looking for a big move in a stock, the potential was there, but it didn\u2019t work out.\u00a0 I still manage to turn another negative morning into a positive day.<\/p>\n<p>So, to recap this week\u2019s trading.\u00a0 I had a wild week, and a lot of obstacles that I was able to overcome.\u00a0 It was a good start to the month as the goals I set for myself for the week were reached.\u00a0 It wasn\u2019t easy but I got there.\u00a0 Let\u2019s see what next week brings!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At the beginning of the year I had goals for myself, which I did not achieve.\u00a0 So, I asked myself \u201cwhat can I change in order to achieve these goals going forward?\u201d\u00a0 I made a few changes and made it through a wild week, which turned out being my best week so far.
