Brett Steenbarger our<br \/>\nrenowned trading coach and I teach you<br \/>\nthese six crucial lessons from elite<br \/>\ntraders so you can dramatically improve<br \/>\nas a trader<br \/>\nthank you very much for having us we are<br \/>\nlooking forward to sharing ideas with<br \/>\nyou about successful trading Mike<br \/>\nBellafiore and I work with traders<br \/>\nprofessional traders at a firm called<br \/>\nSMB Capital what is unique about SMB is<br \/>\nthat we teach traders how to become<br \/>\nsuccessful professional traders so we<br \/>\nteach from the very beginning and we<br \/>\ncoach them I&#8217;m a psychologist by<br \/>\nprofession we mentor them Mike and Steve<br \/>\ndo much of the mentoring we help those<br \/>\ntraders grow to be successful in today&#8217;s<br \/>\npresentation we are sharing with you<br \/>\nsome lessons that we have learned from<br \/>\nthe most successful traders at SMB these<br \/>\nare trader making hundreds of thousands<br \/>\nof dollars each year and in some cases<br \/>\nmillions of dollars each year they&#8217;ve<br \/>\nbeen very successful we see what they do<br \/>\nevery single day and we want to share<br \/>\nwith you the lessons from their<br \/>\nsuccessful training okay so let&#8217;s start<br \/>\nwith lesson number one and like jump in<br \/>\nat any time obviously lesson number one<br \/>\nis the importance of keeping score now<br \/>\nwhat we mean by that is that you track<br \/>\nthe profits and losses of all of the<br \/>\ntrades you place<br \/>\nand you keep records so that you can see<br \/>\nwhich trains are successful and which<br \/>\ntrains are not an SMB say platform a<br \/>\nprogram called traitor view that is a<br \/>\ndatabase of all of the trains that each<br \/>\ntrade places so we can identify how many<br \/>\nwinning trades and losing trains there<br \/>\nare identify how much people make in<br \/>\ntheir trains how much they losing trades<br \/>\nwe can track the types of trains ones<br \/>\nare more successful we also track this<br \/>\nis coming from as a function of time of<br \/>\nday sometimes people make money during<br \/>\none part of the day and not during other<br \/>\nparts of the day so we are able to<br \/>\nexamine patterns of success and the<br \/>\nproblems that traders have so that we<br \/>\ncan quickly identify what they&#8217;re doing<br \/>\nwell what needs improve and we can help<br \/>\nthat learning process so let me offer an<br \/>\nexample from our desk and with somebody<br \/>\nthat we work with that dr. Steenbarger<br \/>\nand I work with and this is a picture of<br \/>\nswang and this is a picture of swang<br \/>\nreceiving his Blackshirt<br \/>\nyou receive a black shirt you earn a<br \/>\nblack shirt on our desk if you make two<br \/>\nmillion dollars net in P&L; for the year<br \/>\nthat&#8217;s not over the course of your<br \/>\ncareer that is not before fees and and<br \/>\nexpenses this is net and recently swang<br \/>\nexperienced a rare<br \/>\na rare draw down a rare bout of<br \/>\ninconsistency in his trading and we took<br \/>\na look at the numbers he came in with as<br \/>\ndr. Steve Berger said his trader view<br \/>\nstats and he had many days in a row of<br \/>\nbeing inconsistent and negative which<br \/>\nwas unusual and from looking at those<br \/>\nstats dr. Steenbarger are said to swang<br \/>\ndon&#8217;t let your swing trading get in the<br \/>\nway of your swang trading he was taking<br \/>\non new and newly additional risk on his<br \/>\nswing trading and getting away from what<br \/>\nhe did well and what is so amazing but<br \/>\nyet so inspiring as you said dr. Steve<br \/>\nBerger is that this is somebody who is a<br \/>\nstar trader but yet but yet when he<br \/>\nstarted to do something outside of his<br \/>\nunique strengths his results materially<br \/>\nchanged and when he was pointed in the<br \/>\nright direction as to what his strengths<br \/>\nare by dr. steam Berger he got right<br \/>\nback into being that star traded he was<br \/>\nin fact he came into our monthly meeting<br \/>\njust the other day and was smiling<br \/>\near-to-ear about how he had just gone on<br \/>\na wonderful hot streak and had made four<br \/>\nhundred and forty plus thousand dollars<br \/>\nin the last 30 or so calendar days when<br \/>\nfocusing on him on swang being swaying<br \/>\nMike if I could just jump in here<br \/>\ntraders in the audience this is so<br \/>\nimportant what mike is telling<br \/>\nwhen we keep score and track our winning<br \/>\ntrades or losing trades what we find out<br \/>\nis our strengths we find out what we are<br \/>\ngood at as traders and the goal of<br \/>\nbecoming successful is to do more and<br \/>\nmore of the things that we are good at<br \/>\nas soon as we try to be someone<br \/>\ndifferent as soon as we get away from<br \/>\nour strengths the best of us like swang<br \/>\nbecome unsuccessful we can only be<br \/>\nsuccessful by being better versions of<br \/>\nourselves we cannot be successful by<br \/>\nimitating someone else are trying to be<br \/>\nsomeone different<br \/>\nmy side ended up very happy at the end<br \/>\nof the month he had gotten back to who<br \/>\nhe really another trader that we work<br \/>\nwith at the firm when he first started<br \/>\ngetting good asked to talk to our floor<br \/>\nmanager and myself about receiving<br \/>\nadditional capital for a particular type<br \/>\nof strategy and I asked our floor<br \/>\nmanager to chat with the trader about<br \/>\nthe topic so that I&#8217;m prepared and so I<br \/>\nknew before the meeting that the trader<br \/>\nwas going to ask for more capital for a<br \/>\nvery specific type of trading and before<br \/>\nthe meeting I have to admit between us I<br \/>\nwas not particularly excited about<br \/>\nhaving this meeting and having this<br \/>\ndiscussion on capital on a strategy that<br \/>\nI didn&#8217;t hold in very high regard I<br \/>\ndidn&#8217;t think it&#8217;s this particular<br \/>\nstrategy was something<br \/>\nyou really could build a career around I<br \/>\nwas skeptical that this trader should be<br \/>\nspending so much time and energy on this<br \/>\none particular type of strategy and so<br \/>\nwhat did that trader do well he came in<br \/>\nwith his trader view stats and he kept a<br \/>\nmeticulous stats for this one particular<br \/>\nstrategy and he dumped it on our<br \/>\nconference table in our conference room<br \/>\nin New York City and showed us his<br \/>\nresults and his results were phenomenal<br \/>\nhis equity curve as we say was straight<br \/>\nup all he did in the strategy was make<br \/>\nmoney and it was clear to our floor<br \/>\nmanager and to myself as to the<br \/>\nmanagement decision that we needed to<br \/>\nmake next which is absolutely we&#8217;re<br \/>\ngonna give you more buying power for<br \/>\nthis particular strategy but think of<br \/>\nyourself the way that I am thinking<br \/>\nabout managing somebody like this trader<br \/>\nwould would would I give this trader<br \/>\nmore capital without seeing really good<br \/>\nresults no I would not our firm would<br \/>\nnot should you give yourself more<br \/>\ncapital more risk on trades until until<br \/>\nuntil you have proven proven proven that<br \/>\nyou can trade these strategies<br \/>\nprofitably in real time you should not<br \/>\nand so just like we do at our firm prove<br \/>\nto yourself you can make money in a<br \/>\nstrategy measure measure measure the<br \/>\ntypes of strategies you&#8217;re trading and<br \/>\nthen and only then give yourself more<br \/>\nrisk for those strategies super-quick my<br \/>\ngreat great point we have to earn the<br \/>\nright to grow our trading and that&#8217;s<br \/>\nwhat keeping statistics and lesson is turning<br \/>\nour goals into plans when we review our<br \/>\ntrading at the end of the day at the end<br \/>\nof the week or month we&#8217;re trying to<br \/>\nidentify where we can make improvements<br \/>\nwe&#8217;re also identifying what we did well<br \/>\nduring that week or during that month<br \/>\nthat we want to keep doing and we turn<br \/>\nthose into goals look for ways we could<br \/>\nimprove in our trading<br \/>\nand that becomes a goal for the next<br \/>\nweek or for the next month<br \/>\nbut the goal does not have power until<br \/>\nwe turn it into a concrete specific plan<br \/>\nso it&#8217;s not enough to say oh I need to<br \/>\nmanage my risk better to control my<br \/>\nlosses better that&#8217;s not enough we need<br \/>\na plan that tells us how are we going to<br \/>\ndo that what specifically are we going<br \/>\nto do we are controlling our losses into<br \/>\na plan it becomes alive for us work that<br \/>\nplan our performance review true<br \/>\nperformance learning dr. Steenbarger<br \/>\nworks with some of the biggest<br \/>\ninstitutional hedge funds Big Money<br \/>\ntraders teams of traders in the world<br \/>\nand on a much much much smaller scale<br \/>\none of the things that I felt personally<br \/>\nthat I did well in 2018 was to become<br \/>\nopen minded to coaching a select number<br \/>\nof very elite traders outside of my firm<br \/>\nwe have lots to do at our firm here we<br \/>\nhave lots of great traders here but I<br \/>\nwanted personally to grow as a managing<br \/>\npartner as a coach as a trader and so I<br \/>\nstarted to work one-on-one with these<br \/>\nelite traders and there&#8217;s something that<br \/>\nbecame very clear to me getting a look<br \/>\nat the traders that are elite at SMB and<br \/>\nthen the traders that are elite outside<br \/>\nthe firm trading different products<br \/>\ntrading different types of markets and<br \/>\nso one of the trader<br \/>\nthis picture on the right is Austin<br \/>\nMitchum<br \/>\nwe call him Slayer that is the nickname<br \/>\nthat we&#8217;ve given him and he&#8217;s a he&#8217;s a<br \/>\nterrific Australian equities trader a<br \/>\nmarket that has nowhere near the<br \/>\nopportunity that the US markets has and<br \/>\nhe works at a hedge fund slash prop firm<br \/>\nin Sydney Australia and and I&#8217;ve had the<br \/>\ngood fortune to visit him on his trading<br \/>\ndesk and work with him on a daily basis<br \/>\nand one of the things that&#8217;s just so<br \/>\nclear to me when you work with these<br \/>\nelite traders is that they&#8217;re different<br \/>\nand they&#8217;re different in a very specific<br \/>\nway they&#8217;re different in that when you<br \/>\ngive them something to work on when they<br \/>\nidentify an area that they want to work<br \/>\non an area that they want to get better<br \/>\nat a goal that they want to turn into a<br \/>\nplan that they don&#8217;t just sit around and<br \/>\ntalk about hey how I would like to<br \/>\nimprove my stock selection I would like<br \/>\nto stop trading stocks I should not be<br \/>\ntrading they immediately and with<br \/>\nspecificity and with intensity draw up a<br \/>\nspecific plan as to how they&#8217;re going to<br \/>\ngo about doing that tomorrow<br \/>\nwhereas underperforming traders<br \/>\nunfortunately and I see this<br \/>\nparticularly in our monthly reviews or<br \/>\nwhen I&#8217;m at an event talking with<br \/>\nindependent retail traders<br \/>\nunderperforming traders talk more<br \/>\ngenerally they say well I want to they<br \/>\nsay I need to get better at stock<br \/>\nselection they say I really need to stop<br \/>\ntrading these types of stocks and then<br \/>\nthey kind of stop talking and they move<br \/>\non to the next idea no no no no elite<br \/>\ntraders are intense it bothers them to<br \/>\nthere<br \/>\nwhore that they are doing something like<br \/>\ntrading stocks they shouldn&#8217;t be trading<br \/>\nor trading setups that are not their<br \/>\nstrengths it bothers them to their core<br \/>\nit burns inside of them there&#8217;s<br \/>\nliterally physical pain it you can hear<br \/>\nif you talk to them or see in their<br \/>\nemails that they&#8217;re not living up to<br \/>\ntheir standards and so as dr. Steenbarger<br \/>\nare saying identify your solutions but<br \/>\nthen be specific about them and and and<br \/>\nstart executing immediately if you want<br \/>\nto be like these elite guys just one<br \/>\nlittle added point to that mic what you<br \/>\nsay is so true the really successful<br \/>\ntrainers I identify by what they are<br \/>\ndoing when the markets are not trading<br \/>\nwhen there&#8217;s no trading going on what<br \/>\nare they doing and the really good ones<br \/>\nare reviewing their training their<br \/>\nlearning their networking with other<br \/>\ngood traders they&#8217;re getting new ideas<br \/>\nthey&#8217;re working on their game just like<br \/>\nan athlete when a game is not being<br \/>\nplayed what are they doing they&#8217;re<br \/>\npracticing their work out they&#8217;re doing<br \/>\ndrills<br \/>\nthat&#8217;s what successful trainers okay<br \/>\nnumber 3s is our focus we focus on<br \/>\nprocess we don&#8217;t just focus on profits<br \/>\nand loss common ingredient among<br \/>\nsuccessful traders is that they develop<br \/>\nmany processes many routines for doing<br \/>\nwhat they do well they have a process<br \/>\nideas in markets they have a process for<br \/>\nfiguring out how to turn those ideas<br \/>\ninto tre<br \/>\nthat have a good risk reward they have a<br \/>\nprocess for sizing their positions and<br \/>\nmanaging risk and they have a process<br \/>\nfor their trading very consistent<br \/>\nconsistent processes<br \/>\nnow as Mike can share successful traders<br \/>\nnot only have trading processes they<br \/>\nhave personal processes in other words<br \/>\nthey have routines for running their<br \/>\npersonal lives and some of those<br \/>\nroutines involve getting good sleep<br \/>\ngood exercise joining their life outside<br \/>\nof training all of these things focused<br \/>\nand at their peak during their trading<br \/>\nso our time outside of training is<br \/>\nimportant have that in a process fashion<br \/>\nit&#8217;s our trading so this is shark and<br \/>\nthis is shark receiving his Blackshirt<br \/>\nlast year and shark we&#8217;ve been very<br \/>\nfortunate to work with and we&#8217;ve been<br \/>\nvery fortunate that some of the people<br \/>\nthat have applied and trained at our<br \/>\nfirm at a college or super talented<br \/>\npeople and in this case not just a super<br \/>\ntalented individual but but even a<br \/>\nbetter person and everybody wants to<br \/>\nlearn more about shark for those who<br \/>\nfollow SMB so I&#8217;ll tell you a little bit<br \/>\nmore about shark and I will hint to you<br \/>\nthat while you get a black shirt for<br \/>\nnetting over two million dollars we<br \/>\nprobably should have another shirt for<br \/>\nmaybe swang and shark because they<br \/>\nmade much more than that but one of the<br \/>\nthings about shark and in working with<br \/>\nshark stands out to me so clearly and<br \/>\nI&#8217;ll just sort of take a half a step<br \/>\nback<br \/>\nand set the context for it so at the end<br \/>\nof the year we challenge our traders to<br \/>\ncreate a yearly goal to create yearly<br \/>\ngoals for themselves in their trading<br \/>\nand then they present them to dr.<br \/>\nSteenbarger and myself and our floor<br \/>\nmanager and we meet in our conference<br \/>\nroom<br \/>\ntalk about the early goals that they&#8217;ve<br \/>\nmapped out for themselves and they do it<br \/>\nin front of their teams I do it in front<br \/>\nof the junior traders in this case four<br \/>\nsharks since he&#8217;s a senior trader and so<br \/>\neverybody puts it out there what they&#8217;re<br \/>\nworking on what their goals are what<br \/>\nthey hope to accomplish and so sharks<br \/>\nsent over his yearly goals after a<br \/>\nparticularly good year and when I read<br \/>\nwhat he wrote it just stopped me in my<br \/>\ntracks and he said and my goal is to<br \/>\nmake eight figures in the future that&#8217;s<br \/>\nnorth of ten million dollars and that<br \/>\nthat figure stopped me in my tracks<br \/>\nbut then what came next did as well and<br \/>\nand it&#8217;s and it was the more important<br \/>\nthought which is he didn&#8217;t just say I<br \/>\nwant to make ten million dollars in a<br \/>\nparticular trading year he then started<br \/>\nto lay out the path the track that was<br \/>\ngoing to get him there the things that<br \/>\nhe needed to do even being such an elite<br \/>\ntrader that was going to put him in a<br \/>\nposition to be able to accomplish to<br \/>\naccomplish that goal and so in the<br \/>\ntakeaway from somebody like shark is<br \/>\nthat here is somebody who after an<br \/>\namazing year is not satisfied and he is<br \/>\npushing himself to do better and he is<br \/>\nspecifically pointing out the things<br \/>\nthat he can do better at that&#8217;s gonna<br \/>\nhelp him to get to that next level so<br \/>\nwhatever level you&#8217;re at if you&#8217;re<br \/>\nsomebody who&#8217;s not even consistently<br \/>\nprofitable yet what are the things that<br \/>\nyou can do to help you to improve if you<br \/>\nare consistently profitable if you&#8217;re<br \/>\nmaking a hundred dollars a day<br \/>\nand that&#8217;s terrific how do you get to<br \/>\nthe point where you&#8217;re able to make you<br \/>\nknow more than that if you can make<br \/>\n$5,000 in a month how can you get to the<br \/>\npoint where you can make $10,000 in a<br \/>\nmonth and I can tell you that shark and<br \/>\nswang used to make consistently four to<br \/>\n$8,000 a month<br \/>\nafter a period of time that it took them<br \/>\nto get good and then they set new goals<br \/>\nand so think about think about what you<br \/>\ncan do specifically and your trading to<br \/>\ntake those next steps<br \/>\nmy kind jump in here again a really good<br \/>\npoint they are the successful trainers<br \/>\nare competing against themselves they&#8217;re<br \/>\nnot competing against the market they&#8217;re<br \/>\nsurely not competing against other<br \/>\npeople they are trying to improve their<br \/>\nperformance day over day week after week<br \/>\nmonth after month year after year<br \/>\nthey&#8217;re competing to be better and<br \/>\nbetter against their past and that&#8217;s<br \/>\nwhat that&#8217;s gonna help you<br \/>\nget better as a trader and that can&#8217;t be<br \/>\njust turning on your screens and trading<br \/>\nlive that&#8217;s not how these guys become<br \/>\ngreat it has to be as dr. Steenbarger<br \/>\nsaid what are the things you&#8217;re doing<br \/>\nafter and before markets what are the<br \/>\nthings you&#8217;re what are some of the<br \/>\nthings you&#8217;re doing in real time but<br \/>\ncreate that path those best practices<br \/>\nthat you can turn into habit that will<br \/>\ndrive that will drive your success that<br \/>\nwill drive your improvement okay Oh pick<br \/>\nit up Mike because we want to leave some<br \/>\ntime for questions answers next lesson<br \/>\nis sustaining our focus our attention as<br \/>\nwe know training can influence our<br \/>\nemotions there&#8217;s risk in training<br \/>\nuncertainty in training and it&#8217;s easy<br \/>\nfor us to get into a stress response a<br \/>\nflight-or-fight where we become anxious<br \/>\nwe become frustrated and those emotions<br \/>\ncan interfere with our decision-making<br \/>\nwhat we have found with the top traders<br \/>\nis that they know themselves they know<br \/>\nwhen they&#8217;re becoming frustrated<br \/>\nbecoming bored and they are able to step<br \/>\naway from trading temporarily to regain<br \/>\ntheir focus sometimes they do meditation<br \/>\nwith something like the headspace app<br \/>\nsometimes they do physical exercise<br \/>\nsometimes they just splash cold water on<br \/>\ntheir face and get away from the screens<br \/>\nbut the idea is that the priority for<br \/>\nthe successful trader is not trading a<br \/>\npriority is having a good focus having<br \/>\nsustained attention so that they can<br \/>\nmake the best decisions possible dr.<br \/>\nSteenbarger I actually think this is some<br \/>\nof your best work of late we sit around<br \/>\npeople like myself sit around and try<br \/>\nand think about how to help traders<br \/>\nimprove because we&#8217;re running a P<br \/>\nproprietary trading firm here and our<br \/>\nprimary business is if our traders are<br \/>\nnot making money then we&#8217;re not making<br \/>\nmoney and and potentially worse and so<br \/>\nyou make this just a stood point and<br \/>\nfocus on the idea of you know it&#8217;s not<br \/>\nabout necessarily passion it&#8217;s not<br \/>\nnecessarily about the number of hours<br \/>\nyou&#8217;re working it&#8217;s specifically about<br \/>\nfocus that leads to success and I find<br \/>\nthat to be so I find the way that you<br \/>\nshaped that idea to be much more<br \/>\nsophisticated and helpful than a lot of<br \/>\nthe stuff we&#8217;ve we&#8217;ve read in the past<br \/>\nwell thank you thank you and certainly<br \/>\non my blog the trader feed blog spot.com<br \/>\nthere are a number of sir sizes the<br \/>\ntraders can learn from to improve their<br \/>\nfocus the next lesson is teamwork<br \/>\nteamwork makes the dream work and what<br \/>\nwe mean by teamwork is teaming up with<br \/>\nother traders it might be at a trading<br \/>\nfirm like SMB on the trading floor<br \/>\nit might be online with people that you<br \/>\nhave things in common with but you are<br \/>\nreaching out to others and you are<br \/>\nsupporting each other you&#8217;re learning<br \/>\nwith each other you&#8217;re learning from<br \/>\neach other and that teamwork accelerates<br \/>\nthe learning curve when you are learning<br \/>\nyour lessons but also sharing in other<br \/>\npeople&#8217;s lessons you&#8217;re learning doubles<br \/>\nand triples and that&#8217;s what we find on<br \/>\nthe trading floor an SMB traders are<br \/>\norganized in teams<br \/>\nand the young traders learn from the<br \/>\nexperienced traders and everyone learns<br \/>\nby sharing their ideas out loud I&#8217;ll<br \/>\nshare this quick anecdote that you were<br \/>\ninvolved with dr. Steenbarger on our<br \/>\ndesk and so there is a terrific team<br \/>\nleader who runs a terrific team all the<br \/>\ntraders on this team are making the most<br \/>\nprogress at the firm the team overall is<br \/>\nsurpassing the performance of all the<br \/>\nother teams and there were a couple of<br \/>\nplayers on the team who I had some<br \/>\nstrong words for who were not fully<br \/>\ncooperating communicating collaborating<br \/>\nwith this particular team and I said to<br \/>\nthem you have this incredibly diligent<br \/>\nsucceeding team leader with junior guys<br \/>\nin the team all making tremendous<br \/>\nprogress more progress than anyone else<br \/>\nat the firm and yet that the two of you<br \/>\nhave this incredible opportunity to tap<br \/>\ninto this team this team leader and<br \/>\nyou&#8217;re not taking full advantage of it<br \/>\nand I just don&#8217;t understand that I don&#8217;t<br \/>\nunderstand how you could let that<br \/>\nopportunity slip away if for me I would<br \/>\nbe sitting right next to that team<br \/>\nleader and be involved in every<br \/>\nconversation that team was having and if<br \/>\nthey got up and went to lunch I&#8217;d follow<br \/>\nthem<br \/>\nin fact if they&#8217;ve got up and went to<br \/>\nthe bathroom I&#8217;d follow them too I&#8217;d<br \/>\nwant to be involved in more and I hate<br \/>\nit when you follow me in the bathroom<br \/>\nugh so we you know and and I have to<br \/>\nadmit it between between us friends I<br \/>\nhave to admit that I said it right there<br \/>\nand recap very differently than I<br \/>\nactually said it live as dr. Steenbarger<br \/>\ncan attest to yes and it&#8217;s<br \/>\nbecause the traders at our firm who are<br \/>\ndoing the best are doing it class<br \/>\noperating in teams this is both true as<br \/>\ndiscretionary traders this is also true<br \/>\non the automated trading side even the<br \/>\nautomated traders who are doing the best<br \/>\nat our firm are doing it in teams by<br \/>\ncollaborating last lesson so crawl walk<br \/>\nrun what that means is when you are<br \/>\nstarting out as a trader or as slowly<br \/>\nand small as possible so for instance<br \/>\nthe traders on the SMB floor start their<br \/>\ntrading simulation mode they trade real<br \/>\nstocks in real time and their score but<br \/>\nthey&#8217;re not putting any money at risk<br \/>\nthey are simulated trades their practice<br \/>\ntrades only when they do well in the<br \/>\npractice training to trade a small<br \/>\namount of money and then as they well<br \/>\nwith a small amount they grow and so<br \/>\nthey crush crawl then they walk and<br \/>\neventually they get quite a bit of money<br \/>\nand that&#8217;s when they run the whole idea<br \/>\nhere is that you want to make all of<br \/>\nyour mistakes as a trader when you are<br \/>\ntrading smallest you want to protect<br \/>\nyour capital protect your money during<br \/>\nyour learning curve so that once you are<br \/>\ntrading well that&#8217;s when you can take<br \/>\nmore risk and make more money I&#8217;ll just<br \/>\nmention one other quick idea and this is<br \/>\nvery important and Mike can certainly<br \/>\nspeak to this what I find in that crawl<br \/>\nwalk run process is that people not only<br \/>\nlearn how they trade well they work what<br \/>\nto trade it turns out that what people<br \/>\ntrade<br \/>\nis just as important how they trade some<br \/>\nthings are moving more than other things<br \/>\nSMB and identifying what we call stocks<br \/>\nin play and taking advantage of their in<br \/>\nfact a certain person I know has a book<br \/>\ncalled the playbook that describes how<br \/>\nthat is done a Mike&#8217;s book is very<br \/>\nhelpful in that way but that&#8217;s a big<br \/>\npart of crawl walk run it&#8217;s not just<br \/>\nlearning how to put on trades but<br \/>\nlearning what to trade I&#8217;ll supplement<br \/>\nwe said with two thoughts when the stage<br \/>\nare in there&#8217;s different stages that<br \/>\nyou&#8217;re going to be in as a trader focus<br \/>\non doing what&#8217;s necessary to succeed in<br \/>\nthat stage at our firm there&#8217;s a<br \/>\nfoundational stage so our traders take<br \/>\nSMB DNA and then they take s and be the<br \/>\nwinning trader when that stage be the<br \/>\nbest student in SMB DNA then there&#8217;s a<br \/>\nsampling stage where you&#8217;re trying<br \/>\ndifferent types of setups and trying to<br \/>\nfind your unique niche for instance<br \/>\nswang if you asked him or made him trade<br \/>\nlike shark would do very poorly shark if<br \/>\nyou made him trade like swang would do<br \/>\nvery poorly they both have unique<br \/>\ncognitive and personality traits that<br \/>\nthey want to tap into<br \/>\nthen there&#8217;s the adoption of technology<br \/>\nwe have great technology at our firm<br \/>\nfiltering scripting automated trading<br \/>\ntraders have to get their feet wet with<br \/>\ntechnology then traders are trying to<br \/>\nbecome a consistently profitable trader<br \/>\nand so the first book I wrote is one<br \/>\ngood trade<br \/>\nwe call that being a CPT but you&#8217;re<br \/>\ntrying to be consistent with your<br \/>\ntrading and so when I when I say win the<br \/>\nstage before you become a consistently<br \/>\nprofitable trader you should not be<br \/>\ntrying to be a really big trader you<br \/>\nshould not be trying to put on a lot of<br \/>\nsize with a particular trade that&#8217;s the<br \/>\nnext step sizing is that next stage and<br \/>\nthen the next step after that is breath<br \/>\nso you know we had a conversation<br \/>\nactually dr. Steinberg was somebody<br \/>\nwho&#8217;s super talented who were a little<br \/>\nbit confused about why he&#8217;s not doing as<br \/>\nwell as he should and he&#8217;s he&#8217;s really<br \/>\nnot yet consistently profitable and what<br \/>\nhe&#8217;s doing is he is trying to win the<br \/>\nstage of breath he&#8217;s trying to do too<br \/>\nmuch stuff when he should be focusing on<br \/>\nthe three trades that he&#8217;s best at or<br \/>\nthe four trades that you&#8217;re best at as<br \/>\nopposed to 15 different types of setups<br \/>\nthat all that&#8217;s happening there is he&#8217;s<br \/>\njust figuring out how bad he is as a<br \/>\ntrader when he tries to do to month to<br \/>\ndo too much and then there&#8217;s advance<br \/>\nbreath you want to win each of those<br \/>\nstages I am going to take an educated<br \/>\nguess that there are a lot of traders in<br \/>\nthe room who are developing traders and<br \/>\nwhat we have seen over the course of the<br \/>\nyears with developing traders is that<br \/>\nthey may not be as good as they want to<br \/>\nbe yet they may not be like a shark yet<br \/>\nbut remember shark and swang when they<br \/>\nfirst started started as people in our<br \/>\ntraining class they started going<br \/>\nthrough our foundation they started<br \/>\ngoing through SMB foundation and when<br \/>\nthey started live they didn&#8217;t make money<br \/>\nright away and in fact it took them you<br \/>\nknow a good nine months before they even<br \/>\nbecame consistently profitable and then<br \/>\nwhen they were consistently profitable<br \/>\nthey were making just<br \/>\nlittle bit of money and then even when<br \/>\nthey were you know kind of good yeah<br \/>\nthey were still making eight to ten<br \/>\nthousand dollars a month and then from<br \/>\nthere they were working on building that<br \/>\nup and so my point is this whole game is<br \/>\na process and if you&#8217;re not where you<br \/>\nwant to be at the moment focus on not<br \/>\nbeing discouraged by that but understand<br \/>\nthat is part of this whole process<br \/>\nyou&#8217;re not there yet<br \/>\nyou&#8217;re not a star trader yet but if you<br \/>\nkeep working if you put that process in<br \/>\nplace if you find your niche like swang<br \/>\nhas like shark has&#8211;
