Apparently I mistakenly left in some sell orders to short SY after the close. \u00a0I headed to our training room for a Tradecast with our new traders and a guest visitor from CT. \u00a0One of our traders poked his head in the door and said,”Bella you got filled in SY and are way out of the money.” \u00a0I have heard better news.<\/p>\n
I \u00a0scurried back to my trading desk, was six points out of the money in SY and traded out of my short position. \u00a0I should have stopped there. \u00a0But I kept trading. \u00a0I made things worse. \u00a0Take my initial loss and add 50 percent. \u00a0 The programs ate me up in SY after the close.<\/p>\n
I did gain some more screen time trading in the afterhours. \u00a0I did trade with some more size than normal which will lead to future gains. \u00a0I did see the pattern that was driving the movement in SY, which I will see again. \u00a0And I reinforced an old thought that I have developed for afterhours trading: wait for someone to get caught leaning the wrong way and then pounce.<\/p>\n
Generally whenever a big offer was taken for what seemed like too much, SY changed directions. And violently. \u00a0Whenever bids were hit too aggressively, like at 63.30, after the afterhours uptrend seemed to break, SY traded strongly higher. \u00a0Someone had to get caught on the wrong side for a significant move to manifest.<\/p>\n
I am not happy. \u00a0I am disappointed in myself. \u00a0I am better than that! \u00a0Tomorrow offers me an opportunity to prove my last sentence.
