My son Luke took his Kindergarten G&T test this weekend in NYC.\u00a0 <\/span>Before I left for the airport to partner’s meetings in Austin, he was up and we talked about his big day.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Luke was so excited to take a test, his first test.<\/span><\/p>\n Lukey and I have been training for this test everyday since the end of the summer.\u00a0<\/span>We called it “Kindergarten homework”.\u00a0<\/span>Which he thought was just about the coolest thing isn’t he world.<\/span><\/p>\n He struggled at first. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n But we focused on improvement and choosing the best answer. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n When he got stuck and frustrated, we tried to figure out the answer together, and think t<\/span>hru the best answer together.<\/span><\/p>\n Coincidentally, around the same time, we tried this delicious new key lime fish oil that tastes like key lime pie at his Poppi\u2019s and turned that into a habit.\u00a0<\/span>When he started improving at Kindergarten homework, Lukey started equating such improvement with taking his fish oil.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cDad I have to take my fish oil so I can get better at Kindergarten homework,\u201d he would say before bed. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Not gonna argue with that.<\/span><\/p>\n I called home after we landed in Austin and asked how he did.<\/span><\/p>\n He pronounced: \u201cI got all the questions right.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n His mom asked if the teacher told him so.<\/span><\/p>\n Lukey said, \u201cNo I just know that I did.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Who can argue with that?<\/span><\/p>\n He was so happy after the test.\u00a0 And we can learn as traders from this youthful happiness.\u00a0<\/span>What drove this happiness?\u00a0<\/span>Growth, excitement to try something new, being challenged.<\/span><\/p>\n Our kids can teach us how we can do better as traders.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Lukey\u2019s experience can provide color for how we can all make more in 2018.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Growth, excitement to try something new, being challenged!<\/span><\/p>\n 2017 was a very strong year for NYC.<\/span><\/p>\n How?<\/span><\/p>\n We were open minded to try something new- crypto, blockchain.<\/span><\/p>\n Traders challenged themselves to learn a new product.<\/span><\/p>\n They grew as traders learning to trade a product with a larger spread.<\/span><\/p>\n They pushed to trade a product with a larger price, more risk and more reward in the very hottest sector on the planet. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Kinda like Lukey. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Doubling down on growth, excitement to try something new and challenging ourselves can help us drive making more in 2018. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Was it just crypto and blockchain that brought higher PnL?\u00a0<\/span>Or was it that youthful excitement to grow?<\/span>Was it that youthful open mindedness to find edge in a new product? \u00a0<\/span>Was it the newness of moving to stocks not crowded with HFTs, where their skills are superior?<\/span><\/p>\n Just like Lukey is forever different after taking his G&T test so are you.\u00a0<\/span>You are better traders.\u00a0 <\/span>That part does not go away even if GBTC does. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
