Yes! we want to develop theses for trades. Yes! stock selection best for you is important before the market opens.<\/p>\n<p>But we do not want to feel pressure to have to predict the best trades before the open. We do not want to feel pressure to have to pick the best stocks before the open. We do not want to feel pressure to be clairvoyant about the next trading session.<\/p>\n<p>Trades will come to us if we sit in our seat. \u00a0Sometimes the best trades just come to us.<\/p>\n<p>Today I was dickering around punching up a bunch of names:<\/p>\n<p>NBRV<\/p>\n<p>NVDA<\/p>\n<p>NFLX<\/p>\n<p>MRTX<\/p>\n<p>SCS<\/p>\n<p>BZUN<\/p>\n<p>UBNT<\/p>\n<p>KORS<\/p>\n<p>EFX<\/p>\n<p>APOG<\/p>\n<p>ALDX<\/p>\n<p>and then SUPN.<\/p>\n<p>I noticed that it was down about 8 percent. \u00a0I noticed it was barely hanging on at the bottom of its opening range of 45.25. \u00a0I observed that it could not trade above 45.40. \u00a0And then the most important information of the trading session just came to me. \u00a045.25 could not hold the offer. \u00a0Every time an offer stepped down to 45.25, it was cleared.<\/p>\n<p>I developed a trading plan around this information that I could not have predicted before open. \u00a0I developed a simple trading plan. \u00a0I developed a good r\/r trading plan. \u00a0Any of the new traders just starting could have traded this idea.<\/p>\n<p>I shorted a small position at 45.25 to track the stock and developed a plan to add size if it traded below the bottom of the range. \u00a0My stops were above 45.40. \u00a0Nothing special here. \u00a0Just me bopping around looking for ideas and I found one. \u00a0Nothing special here. \u00a0Just me observing the market and developing a trade plan.<\/p>\n<p>And then this happened after it dropped below the bottom of the range:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-46102\" src=\"http:\/\/www.smbtraining.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/SUPN-1024x580.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"340\" srcset=\"\/\/www.smbtraining.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/SUPN-1024x580.jpg 1024w, \/\/www.smbtraining.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/SUPN-300x170.jpg 300w, \/\/www.smbtraining.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/SUPN-768x435.jpg 768w, \/\/www.smbtraining.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/SUPN-610x345.jpg 610w, \/\/www.smbtraining.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/SUPN-100x57.jpg 100w, \/\/www.smbtraining.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/SUPN-846x479.jpg 846w, \/\/www.smbtraining.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/SUPN.jpg 1070w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The stock just tanked!<\/p>\n<p>This is a great lesson for us as traders: sometimes the best trades just come to us.<\/p>\n<p>As always, I welcome your feedback\/comments\/questions at mbellafiore@smbcap.com.<\/p>\n<p>*no relevant positions<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sometimes the best trades just come to you.
