{"id":43034,"date":"2016-01-25T14:35:15","date_gmt":"2016-01-25T19:35:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.smbtraining.com\/blog\/?p=43034"},"modified":"2016-01-25T14:35:15","modified_gmt":"2016-01-25T19:35:15","slug":"selling-the-dream-i-will-pass","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.smbtraining.com\/blog\/selling-the-dream-i-will-pass","title":{"rendered":"Selling the dream- I will pass"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"tmblr-full\" data-orig-height=\"654\" data-orig-width=\"1024\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-orig-height=\"654\" data-orig-width=\"1024\" alt=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/56.media.tumblr.com\/68b33deb4a1f69ba699d08531daad5eb\/tumblr_inline_o1ixodj3691slheli_540.jpg\"\/><\/figure>\n<p>I got asked to do a podcast to discuss one of the books I wrote.&nbsp; I like doing podcasts.<\/p>\n<p>I did one with my friend ChicagoSean for StockTwits <a href=\"https:\/\/soundcloud.com\/stocktwits\/mike-bellafiore-trading-as-a-performance-sport\">here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I did one with Chatwithtraders <a href=\"http:\/\/chatwithtraders.com\/ep-022-mike-bellafiore\/\">here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I like listening to podcasts.&nbsp; Soundcloud is an app on my phone, which I frequently use on my walk from the west side to the east side for work. <\/p>\n<p>So I go to the podcast\u2019s site to check him out before I agree to an interview.&nbsp; Basically I don\u2019t want to be affiliated with anyone \u201cselling the dream\u201d, which is harmful to the trading community.&nbsp; Trading is a performance sport for only the most serious of participants, with talent in the strategies they are expressing.<\/p>\n<p>And there is an affiliation with some academy on the podcast site.&nbsp; This is all fine so far.&nbsp; I click on the link to this performance academy and am instantly offended.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The site is massively offensive to women-&nbsp; objectifying them.&nbsp; <\/li>\n<li>The site apparently thinks its visitors are morons given their pitch to change their lives in 3 days.&nbsp; <\/li>\n<li>You tend to take these things more personally when you have a 7-month-old girl at home<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It used to be you actually had to have an expertise in something to be considered a mentor\/teacher\/coach.&nbsp; Apparently today, you can \u201csell the dream\u201d, objectify women, prey on people\u2019s fears, make-up your performance, lie about the accuracy of your trading signals and\/or act boorish to run a successful business.<\/p>\n<p>I think I will pass.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>*no relevant positions<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I got asked to do a podcast to discuss one of the books I wrote.&nbsp; I like doing podcasts.
