When I traded back in the day there were no leveraged ETF’s. \u00a0I wish there were. \u00a0They offer the intraday trader opportunity. \u00a0Whether ETF’s offer too much risk to the market is not for me to decide. What I know is that there is money to be made as an intraday trader mastering them. \u00a0Let me offer one simple example that was our Play of the Day.<\/p>\n

I am often baffled by the new trader’s opinion of how a trader makes money. \u00a0Often they are brainwashed to believe that you must find the next brilliant trade. \u00a0And I suppose at some Hedge Funds or Prop Firms traders do and make a ton of money. \u00a0But you don’t have to. \u00a0You can trade basic setups that have worked since the inception of the markets and master them. \u00a0Plays such as a breaking news play.<\/p>\n

And today we saw an excellent breaking news play in FAS. \u00a0The housing number was about to be released at 10AM. \u00a0Some of our traders watched every tick in FAS and FAZ. \u00a0The number hit. \u00a0SPY spiked above 102, an important resistance level. \u00a0Some of our traders then loaded up in FAS. \u00a0FAS made a point upmove and paused. \u00a0Then FAS made another point upmove and paused. \u00a0Then FAS pulled back before making another point upmove. \u00a0This all occurred in about 15 minutes. \u00a0And this was an opportunity our desk crushed.<\/p>\n

This play takes some guts. \u00a0What happens if the move above 102 SPY was fake? It takes some skill. \u00a0You must get FAS at a good price so your risk\/reward is favorable. \u00a0Can you exit quickly if the move is indeed fake? \u00a0It takes controlled aggression. \u00a0You cannot just pay the offer anytime breaking news hits. \u00a0It requires mental preparation. \u00a0You must be mentally prepared to hold a large position in a volatile ETF. \u00a0But opportunity is abound.<\/p>\n
