Dov’s Bio
I was born and raised in New York City. As a freshman at Stuyvesant High School in downtown Manhattan, just few blocks from Wall Street, I acquired my passion for trading. I started watching CNBC and reading any trading books I could find. I even convinced my dad to fork over $2000 to open an E-trade account. I don’t think it’s possible to have lost the money any faster than I did. Many might have been discouraged, but that experience only made me more determined to learn about the Market.
I graduated from the University of Colorado with a BS in Business Administration, and spent one semester studying International Finance at the City University of Hong Kong.
I landed my first job out of college at a Big Four accounting firm in New York. I felt completely uninspired and stifled in this corporate environment; and I found the work to be unchallenging and boring. Driven by my interest in the Market, and drawn to the independent and entrepreneurial nature of trading, in March 2008 I secured a spot on SMB Capital’s trading desk.
I trade in a momentum/scalp style. I search for opportunities in stocks and ETF’s that combine a fundamental catalyst with a technical setup and aim to capitalize on the short term price movements. I find the psychological aspect of trading to be the most engaging and challenging, and spend much of my time working on that part of my game.
My blog will focus on the challenges for a developing trader, and I hope that I can provide some insight for both new and experienced traders.
