We will look at how the indicator is built, how you can install it on your platform, and the variety of uses - from managing options strategies to finding individual sectors and stocks for long/short trends. Why I Got Long Bed, Bath & Beyond ($BBBY)

Jun 29th, 2014 | By | Category: Steven Spencer (Steve's) Blogs, Trading Lesson
In a raging bull market there aren't a lot of spots to put money to work on the long side that offer good risk to reward. BBBY gapped lower Thursday for the third time this year bringing it within striking distance of important longer term support and around 30% from its high. My thought process was that many large managers would use this opportunity to get long because the perceived downside was considerably less than the upside on the intermediate to longer term time frames. In this video I explain how I used this thesis to establish a swing trade in BBBY on the long side. One of the cool things about being a nimble short term Read more [...]

Multiple Strategies – Automated Opportunities

Jun 27th, 2014 | By | Category: General Comments
Earlier this week we looked at SUNE which was setting up for a long. Now we've got the hourly rejoining the Daily/Weekly and it's time to trail the position for as long as it wants to run. WMT and SPWR were also trades that showed up on the TEA Radar that have been trading nicely - often defying the broad market direction. The setups that I'm looking for (and that are working) are long term trends with short term consolidations. By entering when the short term is quiet; the options prices decline, the probabilities increase, and the risk is easier to define. Even in this relentless bull market, some of the best trades have been Read more [...]

TEA Trend Indicator

Jun 25th, 2014 | By | Category: Systems Trading
The TEA has fired off a big warning on SPY - The first since May 8th. The current bullish move was confirmed about a month ago and held nicely with only moderate warnings on down days. In the context of slowing momentum and an extended move; yesterday's bearish move is a more relevant warning.   Applications I'll be quick to take losses on longs that aren't working. I'm widening my neutral SPX options profile a little to make sure I can handle a 4% move with minimal draw down I'll be holding shorts for as long as they want to work and taking profits on the first sign of a turn on the hourly The pull Read more [...]
